Google has some big plans for Photos, of that we have no doubt. What those plans are however are up for discussion. Long tied to Google+, Photos is expanding its horizons.
Recently, Google acquired a photo back-up and sharing platform called Odysee. Mountain View also shuffled some leadership with Google+ while separating Photos from the social medium in the process.
The first indicators of what some of the future looks like for Photos will be noticeable in Google Drive. Given all the pictures we take and share, Google is expanding where Photos can be accessed and shared. It is also part of Google’s desire to make accessing its services a bit more seamless.
The change in Google Drive started rolling out on Monday, and according to Google, you will notice the Google Photos icon in the slide-out menu from Google Drive. Aside from this added functionality, Google Photos as a part of Google+ continues to operate normally.
If you add or remove a photo to Google Drive, its corresponding file in Google+ Photos will be added or removed. The added convenience with the photos in Google Drive is that it makes it easier for you to organize your pictures. Doing so will not make any changes in Google+, however.
