Xiaomi had a big day in India on Tuesday, as its open sale of the Xiaomi MiPad was a success. The tablet was sold out and a tweet sent out by the company said that the inventory of tablets had been expected to last two weeks. Xiaomi added that it would be returning with more tablets to sell soon. Priced at the equivalent of $209, the Wi-Fi only tablet was sold through Flipkart without requiring buyers to register for a flash sale.
Xiaomi did turn to the tried and true flash sale model for the Xiaomi Redmi 2. The handset drew 300,000 registrations on Flipkart and 50,000 units were snatched up in seconds. The handset was priced at the equivalent of $112 USD. Another flash sale is scheduled later in the day for the 64GB Xiaomi Mi 4.
Until today's open sale of its tablet, every Xiaomi device sold in India had relied on the flash sale technique the very first time it was offered in the country. Judging by the results, it seems that the company made a good call with the MiPad.
