Last week, Samsung Gulf shook up some owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note II by saying that the phablet would not be receiving the Android 5.0 update. The tweet from the Persian Gulf arm of the Korean manufacturer was quickly followed by one from Samsung Spain indicating that the second-generation Galaxy Note model would receive Android 5.0 as long as there were no issues with the updating process.
A few days later, Samsung Denmark also weighed in by saying that both the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Samsung Galaxy Note II 4G would receive the update in the region. It also said that updates vary by market, hinting that the tweet from Samsung Gulf was correct for that particular region.
With that in mind, Samsung Gulf posted on its Facebook site on Sunday that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0tablet will not be the recipient of Android 5.0. The 8-inch glass carries a resolution of 800 x 1280. Under the hood is a Exynos 4412 SoC with a quad-core 1.6GHz CPU. The Mali-400 MP4 GPU handles graphics. With 2GB of RAM on board, Android 5.0 might work fine on this slate. It could be that like the Galaxy Note II, the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet will be updated to Lollipop elsewhere, but not in the Persian Gulf.
We might see other regional Samsung offices fire off a tweet with comments about their update plans for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. If we see any, we will pass them along to you.
Samsung Gulf says no Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0
Thanks for the tip!
