Samsung’s first smartphone with a Quad HD display, the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, is now receiving an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop in South Korea. The update is currently rolling out to carrier SK Telecom’s variant (model number SM-G906S); the Android version is 5.0.1 and the build number is G906SKSU1BOB8, with the update available through Kies and through our firmware section (for the impatient folks who like to manually update).
We’ve given our readers an exclusive look at Android 5.0 running on the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, and we expect the final update to be pretty much the same in terms of features and changes, which include improved performance, a refreshed TouchWiz UX with Material Design touches, better battery life, lockscreen and heads-up notifications, and more. The other two major carriers should also be pushing out the update soon, and you can be sure you will hear about it from us as and when the rollout begins.
Update: The update is rolling out to all carrier variants of the Galaxy S5 LTE-A. You can download each variant’s Android 5.0.1 firmware from our firmware section, or wait for the OTA to show up on your device.
