Xiaomi has announced that its Mi App Store has crossed the 50 billion downloads milestone, a feat it achieved in just four years - the app store was launched back in 2012. The figure stood at 35 billion in December last year and 40 billion at the end of Q1 2016.

The company also revealed the peak download figure of 180 million per day, with Wechat, QQ, and Taobao being the most downloaded apps of all time. The Mi App Store now has a market share of 18% in China, making it the second largest Android app store in the country.

A total of 200 million users are now using the Chinese company's MIUI ROM worldwide, it was revealed.
